Peggy Hasegawa - Papermaking and Bookmaking

Workshop: A lover of paper all her life, Peggy Hasegawa has been a papermaker and origami artist since 1983. Her papermaking workshops take students back 2,000 years as they prepare equipment and pulp to make handmade paper. Whether working with pulp from garden plants, cotton or recycled paper, students come to realize the significance of a single sheet of paper and the stories it tells of art, nature, history, geography, culture, science, ecology, and invention. In her origami workshops, Hasegawa stimulates students' creativity, dexterity and imagination as they fold and shape paper into different creatures, forms and objects. An ancient art as old as papermaking, origami involves many disciplines, including math and geometry.
