Johnavalos Rios - Indigenous Mexican Dances

Workshop: The diverse culture and evolving history of Mexico are explored in workshops with artist and dance educator Johnavalos Rios. Students are able to learn a specific dance, hear about the dance's region of origin and the history and significance of the steps and movements. Workshops can focus on: indigenous dances such as the Animals of Mexico dances or Aztec Myths, Mestizo Festival dances, or dances that evolved from the rich blending of Indian, Spanish and African cultures; or California Ranchero.

Price:
$100 per 60-minute workshop, plus possible planning fee. Minimum three workshops per day must be scheduled.

Age Group: All Ages
Capacity: 1 Classroom (maximum of 35 students, plus regular teacher)
Availability: Year Round

Teacher In-Service Price: $300/hour (2-hour minimum required).
Capacity: 40 Educators

Teachers will learn Mexican dances in a theatrical context, developed and evolved from post-conquest sixteenth century through the twenty-first century.
