Madeleine Dahm - 'The Masters of Dance Theatre'

Workshop: British dance artist Madeleine Dahm draws inspiration from the legendary masters of dance, as she explores the historical impact and modern day relevance of these great pioneers. She guides students to a deep understanding and appreciation of world-renowned choreography and performance, as well as expanding dance across the curriculum into social studies, philosophy, the natural world, history, math and the language arts. Immersed in the art of movement, students are taught the principle skills and rich vocabulary necessary for meaningful exploration and expression. Students investigate, experience, create, connect, reflect, and ultimately develop the skills and confidence needed for dynamic movement composition and inspiring performance.

Her workshops feature the Anchor Works of the Kirov Ballet, the Martha Graham Company, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Pilobolus Dance Company, Kurt Joos's 'The Green Table', Nijinsky's 'Rite of Spring', the Royal Ballet's 'Tales of Beatrix Potter' and Jiri Kylian’s Aboriginal inspired 'Stamping Ground'. Additionally, she has master workshops based on Vincent van Gogh's 'Starry Night' and Vivaldi's 'Four Seasons'.

Madeleine Dahm is a distinguished dance artist, passionate arts advocate and a master teaching artist. She received her formal dance and theatre training in London at the Martha Graham School, the Laban Institute for Movement and Dance and the Royal Court and Old Vic Theatre. She was a professional classical contemporary dancer for over seventeen years performing in major works at the Royal Sadlers Wells Theatre, the Royal National Theatre, Covent Garden, the Royal Festival Hall, and the Royal Albert Hall. Ms. Dahm is a founding member of 'The British Association of Choreographers', and her acclaimed work has been presented across Europe and America. She holds a Post-Graduate Laban Certificate (with distinction) in dance and related movement studies, and is a master teaching artist for the Music Center as well as other internationally renowned arts centre’s and universities. She is the recipient of a 'City of London Major Dance Award' and a Commendation of Appreciation from the City of Los Angeles, for her 'Outstanding Service to Children' through the arts.
