| Geri Keams
Assembly:
Geri Keams, born and raised on the Navajo Nation in the Painted Desert region of Arizona and a member of the Streak-Of-Black Forest Clan, is an accomplished storyteller and author of books for children, including the acclaimed "Grandmother Spider Brings The Sun" and "Snail Girl Brings Water." Keams honors the age-old Native American tradition of remembering and passing on ancient stories and chants, sharing with each audience the legends and myths of many tribes. Trickster Coyote Tales, Creation Stories and Animal Tales come to life as Keams uses voice, gesture and music to pass on tales that speak of long ago, when animals could talk and when magical people could become stars. A resource for modern Hollywood "storytellers," Keams spends time advising motion picture and television productions on their presentations of aspects of Native American cultures. A featured performer at the Kennedy Center and the Smithsonian Institute, Keams also served as the Native American consultant to Disney for the animated movie, "Pocahontas."
