| Rochel Garner Coleman
Assembly:
Actor, storyteller and poet Rochel Garner Coleman dramatizes the lives of two fascinating historical characters in his one-man shows:
I, Nat Love: The Story of Deadwood Dick tells the story of a slave born in Tennessee who went west at the age of 15 to seek freedom and opportunity. One of the most prominent and trusted Black cowboys of his era, Nat Love, also known as Deadwood Dick, lived the life of a roping, riding, bronco-busting and cattle-driving man.
Shadow Ball tells the true story of James Thomas Bell, known as Cool Papa Bell, the fastest man ever to play baseball. Coleman recreates the life and times of the men in the Negro Leagues from the early 1920s, through the Great Depression, to the breaking of the color barrier by Jackie Robinson's signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. Compellingly told with humor and music, this authentic production is a home run!
