What is your favorite thing about playing the violin? What inspires you about it?
I like the tone quality of the instrument. There is a unique and special tone that only the violin can produce. It is an amazing feeling when you can produce the tone that you want to produce. At the same time, it is inspiring because I cannot always get that tone so it pushes me to keep trying. There is no perfection in violin playing. There is always something you can do better, more, or differently. I also love the feeling of performing on stage. It is very fun to perform in front of an audience and connect with them.

What are your dreams/goals in life?
I would like to become a violin soloist and keep enjoying it like I do now.

Are there any setbacks that you have overcome and forced you to be a better musician?
I always have to worry about injuries so it limits what I can do. Also, I don't have much time to see my friends because of my busy schedule with violin. When I think about the setbacks, I try to think more about what I have gained from them. I can then focus more on my violin.

Where would you like to perform someday if given the opportunity?
I would like to perform at Disney Concert Hall with Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil.

How many hours a week do your practice playing the violin?
I practice about 20-25 hours a week.

Why did you want to participate in Spotlight?
It is a dream for any musician to perform at the Music Center. I knew that Spotlight was a very competitive competition, but I wanted to see how well I would do. It is just unbelievable that I got to compete as a grand finalist at the Music Center.

Do you have a mentor? If so, how long have you worked with him/her and how has he/she helped you in your career?
I just met my Spotlight mentors and they were very nice and showed their support. I am looking forward to building a relationship with them.
